Socialization: fundamental basis of cell homeostasis

Description of the picture
Communication is an essential connecting tool among living organisms. However, it is not only limited to the level of the organism but to coordinate cell function, cell organelles are always in bond with each other. Mitochondria are one of the essential organelles that coordinate the metabolic process in the cell. Mitochondria can control the function of other organelles by modulating their interaction with them. This interaction is affected by various diseases, especially mitochondrial diseases. Our laboratory is interested in disentangling the potential interaction of mitochondria (red) with endoplasmic reticulum (green) and lysosomes (white / magenta) using a powerful microscopic imaging technique as shown in the image (Human fibroblasts, core – blue).
